A karate instructor charged in the sexual assault of a 13-year-old student was in custody Sunday on a $20,000 bond.
Alejandro Mancillas, 33, of the 10200 block of Windmill Lakes, had been wanted on a charge of aggravated sexual assault filed Friday.
He is accused in the assault of a Stevenson Middle School student at her home. Mancillas taught karate at Stevenson in an after-school program, where the girl was one of his students.
The girl told police she and Mancillas began with a "kissing" relationship, according to reports.
Mancillas has denied all allegations, according to reports.
Mancillas was an instructor in the Kick Drugs Out of America Kick Start program, said Terry Abbott, Houston Independent School District spokesman.
The celebrated character-building, martial arts program, started in 1990 by actor Chuck Norris, provides karate instruction to schools across the country, including schools throughout Houston and Galveston.
