Facing more than 500 counts on charges of sexually victimizing two boys, Ron Gorman, 52, formerly of Stroud Township, pleaded guilty Friday in both cases, the Monroe County District Attorney's Office said.
Gorman was originally scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on the charges Friday.
However, he decided before the hearing to plead guilty to victimizing the two boys he coached in wrestling in Stroud Township between 2006 and 2009, when he moved to Marietta, Ga. He pleaded guilty in each case to one count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child under age 13.
The investigation leading to the charges began in September 2016, when Pennsylvania state police received information from Georgia about Gorman's alleged inappropriate sexual behavior with boys on his wrestling team.
Police identified the two Pennsylvania victims. Both reported Gorman had used his position as a wrestling coach to gain their trust in order to sexually abuse them for multiple years in Monroe County and Georgia.
Gorman was charged in February and March in these two victims' cases.
Others then came forward, reporting Gorman had done the same to them while he was their martial arts instructor in the 1980s. However, he cannot be prosecuted in those cases due to the statute of limitations having run out, the District Attorney's Office said.
Still, in preparing to try Gorman in the two Pennsylvania youth wrestler cases, the prosecution told him they planned to introduce testimony regarding the "prior bad acts" of the 1980s case against him at trial.
In May, Georgia authorities told the Monroe County District Attorney's Office they would be charging Gorman regarding one of the two Pennsylvania youth wrestler cases. Georgia authorities then issued an arrest warrant for Gorman.
Having pleaded guilty Friday, Gorman is now awaiting sentencing, facing 20 to 40 years in state prison. As part of this plea, he will plead guilty in the Georgia case involving one of the two Pennsylvania youth wrestlers, the District Attorney's Office said.
Before being sentenced in Monroe County, Gorman will undergo a pre-sentencing investigation (PSI) conducted by the County Probation Office. Part of this investigation involves a state convicted-sexual-offender assessment to determine if he's a sexually violent predator.
The Probation Office will complete a PSI report recommending how steep a sentence Gorman should serve, based on the level of seriousness of his actions. The judge will take this recommendation into account when imposing sentence.
Now that he has pleaded guilty, Gorman will be required to register as a convicted sex offender under Megan's Law for the rest of his life.

A former Stroudsburg area youth wrestling coach was held in lieu of $1 million bail after appearing Wednesday in court to face 369 counts of sexually abusing two boys, according to a published report and court records.

Ron Gorman, 51, who was arrested March 3 in his current hometown of Marietta, Georgia, was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge C. Daniel Higgins Jr. on 36 counts of rape of a child and hundreds of other sexual offenses, the Pocono Record and court papers said. The alleged abuse began in 2006 in Stroud Township, Monroe County, when one boy was 10 and the other 11, authorities said.
Gorman moved to Georgia in 2009, according to the Record.
Bail was set at $500,000 in each of the two cases and Gorman was ordered to Monroe County jail, court records said.
Gorman's attorney Brett Reigel tried to argue for $50,000 bail, later citing the number of wrestlers Gorman taught compared to the two who are making accusations, the Record reported.
"Out of the many youths Mr. Gorman has worked with over the years in both our area and Georgia, the prosecution had to dig real hard to find just the two making these accusations, which says something," Riegel said. "People who have an ax to grind can say anything."
Gorman is a beloved family man and respected community member with no criminal record, Riegel argued.
Assistant District attorney Julieann Fry called that bail request "absurdly low," the newspaper reported.
Authorities are investigating several similar allegations against Gorman dating to the 1980s when he went by the name of Ron Rarick and was a Stroudsburg area martial arts instructor, Pennsylvania State Police said last week. Police investigated Gorman in Georgia but didn't charge him, according to the Record.
One of the victims, now 20 years old, on Feb. 21 agreed to speak with Gorman in a recorded phone conversation, the Record said. Gorman said he had "a little bit of guilt" but "the trick is not to talk about it," the Record reported. Gorman allegedly told the 20-year-old he was worried the crimes would be reported to police.
Gorman declined to comment going in and out of Wednesday's court proceeding, the Record said.
While the district attorney's office encouraged other possible victims to step forward, Gorman's lawyer said his client "looks forward to clearing his name and putting these charges behind him," the Record said.

Ron Gorman, 52, of Stroud Township in Monroe County, pleaded guilty in both cases to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.
As part of the plea agreement, he will also plead guilty to a separate case, involving one of the Pennsylvania victims, that is pending in Georgia. Sentencing in Monroe County is scheduled Feb. 20, and Gorman faces 20 to 40 years in a Pennsylvania state prison, under the agreement, the DA's office said.
Gorman had been charged with more than 500 criminal counts related to the sexual abuse of two Monroe County youth wrestlers under age 13 whom he'd coached between 2006 and 2009.
Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Brian Knoll opened the investigation into the assaults in September 2016, and Gorman was charged in the two separate cases in February and March of this year.

The 51-year-old is charged with more than 500 counts of sexual abuse.
"During the course of this investigation, more victims came forward to Trooper Noll regarding similar conduct perpetrated upon themselves by Gorman," DA's office Chief Detective Eric Kerchner said in a statement Friday. "The majority of these victims all reported abuse which occurred while Gorman was a martial arts instructor in the mid to late 1980s.
"Unfortunately, based upon the statute of limitations in Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth is unable to prosecute with regards to these victims."
