A former Campbellsport martial arts instructor convicted of sexually assaulting one of his students is going to prison.
William Schellinger, 44, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Oct. 9 during a hearing before Fond du Lac County Circuit Court Judge Peter Grimm. He was also ordered to serve 15 years of extended supervision following incarceration.
Schellinger was found guilty at a jury trial that ended on July 22. He was charged with six felony counts of child exploitation using video, records, etc; six counts of child pornography, two counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child and repeated sexual assault of the same child.
A 15-year-old teenage girl told investigators from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office that she and Schellinger were engaged in a sexual relationship from March to August 2014 that took place at Kettle Moraine Martial Arts Academy in Campbellsport, according to the criminal complaint.
Information retrieved from Schellinger's cell phone turned up numerous photos of naked women -- including 71 photos of the underage girl -- engaged in sexual explicit conduct, the complaint stated.
The teen told authorities that Schellinger told her not to tell anyone about their relationship, or he would shoot himself. Schellinger admitted "sexting" the teen and buying her a sexual device, the complaint stated.
He also told detectives that he thought of her as a daughter and that he tried to keep the girl single through high school and during any future college years in the event they had a future together.

A Campbellsport martial arts instructor is being held in jail on a $100,000 cash bond after being accused of sexually assaulting a teenage student in the back room of his studio.
William T. Schellinger II, 43, faces two felony counts of sexual assault of a child and repeated sexual assault of a child. He appeared in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court on Thursday, Oct. 2 before Judge Gary Sharpe.
The 15-year-old told authorities that she knew Schellinger for two years and they had become closer and began texting each other every day, according to a criminal complaint.
Last March they began a sexual relationship, she said, and their meetings took place at Kettle Moraine Martial Arts Academy at 133 W. Main St. in Campbellsport, the complaint stated. The teen told authorities the defendant told her not to tell anyone of their relationship or he would shoot himself.

He also told detectives that he tries to keep the girl single through high school and college in the event they have a future together.
If convicted of all charges, he faces a maximum penalty of up to 120 years in prison and $300,000 in fines. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Oct. 10.
