JUDO INSTRUCTOR PLEADS GUILTY:
A Livermore judo instructor pleaded guilty last week to sexually assaulting one of his students.
Ryan Rebmann, 29, of Livermore, appeared in a Queens Supreme Court in New York on Sept. 16 to enter his plea on the charge of a criminal sexual act in the third degree, said a spokeswoman from the Queens County Court office.
Rebmann was arrested in May after a teenage student said Rebmann sexually assaulted her. According to earlier reports, the teenage girl, also a Livermore resident, told investigators that Rebmann assaulted her in March while staying in a New York City hotel with Rebmann, who was her instructor and chaperon.
Two other teenagers also were part of the traveling group that was in New York on a stopover before flying to a competition in the Dominican Republic. The girl told investigators the assault occurred while the other teens were asleep.
A call to Rebmann's attorney, Kenneth Schreiber, was not returned.
Rebmann is expected back in court Sept. 30 for sentencing.
