BENTONVILLE -- A Siloam Springs man will serve a 12-year prison sentence for repeatedly molesting a young girl. -- William Glen Landolt, 37, was sentenced Monday by Benton County Senior Circuit Judge Tom Keith. --
Landolt, who operates a martial arts studio in Springdale, originally faced a charge of rape after his April 2005 arrest. The girl told police the abuse began in Rogers when she was in fifth grade. The charge was amended to second-degree sexual assault, and Landolt pleaded no contest in September. --
Defense counsel W. H. Taylor asked the judge for a sentence of probation, but Shane Wilkinson, senior trial attorney with the prosecutor's office, sought 15 years. -- The judge ordered a presentence investigation before announcing his decision. Some of Landolt's adult students testified Monday as to his good character. -- "I've taken into account all the circumstances," Keith said. "This type of crime is not only against an individual -- it undermines the character of our society." --
When Landolt was given an opportunity to speak, he said simply to the judge, "I sincerely apologize for putting yourself and the court through this today." -- Keith ordered Landolt to compete sex offender treatment in prison, serve an eight-year suspended sentence after release and register as a sex offender. Landolt will first be eligible for parole after two years.
He has been free on a $25,000 bond since the day after his arrest.---- From: TR McClanahan From: Michelle Landolt -- Glen was sentenced yesterday to 12 years. He is sitting in the county jail waiting on a spot to open up in his new home. -----From TR: Michelle was a student of TR McClanahan and a former USJA winner. It seems Glen plea was "No Contest."
Then in open court they asked him if he believed they had enough to prove the case against him. He is reported to have said "yes!" TR advised him when this first started that Glen MUST submit actual court records to him for review before he could support him in any way. TR never received the trial record as promised. End of story.
