Former Instructor Sentenced On Sex Abuse

GRANTS PASS, Ore. – A former martial arts instructor who sexually abused his students will serve close to 9 years behind bars. A Josephine County Judge sentenced Jonathan Wilson to 105 months in prison.
Back in June, officers received a tip that he had sexual contact with a 13-year-old during Boatnik. After that, three additional female victims came forward. They told police most of the sexual contact happened at his workplace, the Burk and Betancourt Taekwondo School. The owner of that school Lorraine Burke said she had no idea Wilson was that type of person.
“We had Jonathan in a position of trust with these individuals and I swear he led them, and should have encouraged them, and developed their growth in a positive way, and he really took advantage of them; hurt their families,” Burke said.
After Wilson serves his time, he will be on three years post prison supervision.

Taekwondo Instructor Charged With Sex Abuse Against Students

Grants Pass, Oregon
A Grants Pass martial arts instructor faces several measure 11 charges after a young girl told police that he touched her inappropriately. After the report, several other young girls- his students, came forward.
The youngest girl age twelve, police say was raped. Several others between the ages thirteen and seventeen were inappropriately touched both in their taekwondo class and outside the dojo.
This isn't the first time police have seen this. Years ago, the owner of a martial arts studio inside that very same building molested at least one child. Twenty-seven year-old Johnathan Lee Wilson was fired from his position as taekwondo instructor a week before his arrest.
Police wouldn't speculate but say it's not unusual for more victims to come forward in a case like this. Tonight the studio is closed and the owners of the business are working on a formal statement.
