ROCKVILLE, Md. (WJLA) - Police believe a former karate instructor already convicted of a sex crime may have more victims.
Jorge Allica, 56, is charged with multiple sex offenses dating back decades; a former student, now in his 40s, came forward with the accusations last September.
Investigators say Allica taught karate at Akido Shobukan Dojo in Northwest D.C. One of his karate students told police the abuse began back in 1984, when he was just 10 years old, and that it continued for a decade. The victim told police the abuse occurred in Montgomery County, in both his home and Allica's.
Allica is already a registered sex offender, convicted of child sex abuse back in 1995. Online court documents show he was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with nine years suspended. ABC 7 News visited the Northeast D.C. home listed on court documents as his address, but no one would talk.
Police say they are concerned there may be other victims out there. Not only was Allica a karate teacher from 1983 to 1994, but he also taught at Andrew Jackson Academy in Prince George's County from 1989 to 1991.

Policelights 1Circuit Court Judge Steven Salant sentenced a Washington D.C. man to 20 years in a Maryland correction facility Wednesday but suspended 18 of them.
Montgomery County police charged Jorge Allica, 56, of the 3700 block of 13th Street in Northeast, with second-degree sex offense and third-degree sex offenses on Jan. 29 for charges stemming from an incident in 1985.
“We’re of the mind that the result is best for both parties,” said Ramon Korionoff, spokesperson for Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Not going to trial means the victim does not have to testify, Korionoff said.
Salant told Allica his case is different from other sexual abuse cases because he had not reoffended in almost 18 years, referring to a case resolved in 1995.
“You have demonstrated through your probation, your therapy, your work [and] your personal relationships” you are rehabilitated, Salant told Allica.
On May 22, Allica pleaded guilty for both charges.
Salant gave Allica five years for both supervised probations with conditions including compliance, weekly therapy and no unsupervised contact with anyone under 18 years old.
He will serve his sentence immediately, Salant said.
Allica’s lawyer Rene Sandler, with Sandler Law LLC, said the 56-year-old turned himself in once he found out about his warrant.
Louise Valladares, a marriage and family therapist, told the court she did not believe Allica is a danger to the community.
She said he did not minimize, deny or justify the acts he committed during his therapy sessions.
Valladres served as Allica’s therapist from 1995 to 2006. He went back to her in February and has seen her each Wednesday since for 90 minute sessions.
She said during therapy, he would take polygraph tests to let her know that he was being truthful during their sessions.
His supporters painted him as a sociable and likeable when they spoke on Allica’s behalf.
Robert Allica, his older brother, said he helped his niece overcome a rough time with her roommate.
Assistant state’s attorney Cindy Bridgford told Salant the victim’s relationships with immediate family have been impacted.
Bridgford asked the judge for a one-year sentence in jail with the chance to earn credit.
In 1995, Allica pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse with one year in jail and five years' probation, Sandler said.
He has registered as a sex offender every three months for child abuse in D.C. since that time, said Sandler.
She told the judge Allica would register as sex offender if required by Maryland law requires after he leaves jail.
“I’m so, so sorry what I did,” said Allica as he addressed Salant.
A former karate teacher, Allica worked at Akido Shobukan Dojo in Northwest D.C. from 1983 to 1994 and at Andrew Jackson Academy in Prince George’s County from 1989 to 1991.

Former martial arts teacher charged with abusing student for 10 years
By Julie Zauzmer February 19
A martial arts teacher has been charged with sexually abusing a student over a 10-year period beginning in 1984.
Montgomery County police said Thursday that they believe that Jorge Raul Allica, 56, who also taught in the Prince George’s County school system, may have abused other victims as well.
The victim came forward to police in September 2014, Cpl. Rebecca Innocenti said.
In a statement, police said that Allica, who also goes by the name George Paul Allica, had sexual contact with the victim from 1984 to 1994 at his home in Silver Spring and the victim’s home in Chevy Chase.
During most of that time, the victim was a minor.
Allica taught the boy martial arts at Aikido Shobukan Dojo in Northwest Washington, coached him in another sport and tutored him in an academic subject, police said.
Allica was arrested on Jan. 29 and charged with 11 sexual offense counts, Innocenti said.
She said that police did not announce the arrest until Thursday because another potential victim had been identified in the course of the investigation, and they were waiting to see whether they would charge Allica right away with abusing that victim as well. He has not been charged in that case.
Police encouraged any other potential victims to contact authorities.
Police said that Allica, who now lives in Northeast Washington, taught at the martial arts school from 1983 to 1994, and taught at Andrew Jackson Middle School in Prince George’s County from 1989 to 1991.
According to the D.C. sex offender registry, he was convicted of child sex abuse in Maryland in 1995.
Since about 2000, he has worked as a landscaper, the police statement said.
