FREMONT -- A Fremont martial arts instructor pleaded guilty this week to felony sexual battery charges for molesting two teenage students, police said Thursday.
Wenyuan Sun, 49, entered the plea during a hearing on Wednesday in Alameda County Superior Court, police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said.
Officers said they investigated two cases in late 2009 involving two juvenile females who reported that Sun molested them while they were taking classes at his school the O-Mei Kung Fu Academy at 39171 Farwell Drive in Fremont.
The victims, ages 15 and 17 at the time of the crimes, were molested on multiple occasions that took place in late 2008 through 2009, said Det. M. Gebhardt.
Warrants were issued for Sun's arrest, but police said he became aware of the investigation and fled the country to China, Gebhardt said. He was placed on the Fremont Police Department's Most Wanted website in early 2010.
In September 2011, authorities learned he'd returned to the U.S. and apprehended him at an airport in Houston, Gebhardt said. His arrest was a result of a joint operation with the U.S. Marshal's Service, U.S. Customs, and Fremont Police.
Sun, who has been incarcerated since his arrest in Texas, pleaded guilty to two counts of felony sexual battery -- one count for each victim, Bosques said. Sentencing will be later this month.
