The Sioux Falls Tae Kwon Do instructor who was found guilty of fondling one of his female students the night before a tournament is going to prison.
A judge sentenced Bud Williams to one and a half years in prison for sexual contact. The prosecutor in the case thinks Williams deserves prison time because he's a threat to other children.
Hope Okerlund Matchan, Deputy State’s Attorney, said, “She trusted this man as a daughter trusts her own father, she was sleeping in his home on his sofa, they watched the game together, they had pizza together, it was a very trusting relationship.”
Williams will be eligible for parole in nine months.

Tae Kwon Do Instructor On Trial for Inappropriate Touching
Parents trusted him to teach and travel with their kids. But tonight a Sioux Falls martial arts instructor is on trail, accused of touching a 13 year-old girl inappropriately. Tuesday was day two in the Sexual Contact trial of 36 year-old Bud Haley Williams. The day began with the girl on the stand. But it also included Williams's explanation to police of what happened the night in question.
The victim was sleeping at 46 year-old Bud Williams apartment that November night because she and her Tae Kwon Do teammates were leaving for a Minneapolis tournament early the next morning. During most sleep-over's Williams wife, kids and other teammates were also there. This night she and the suspect was alone.
The 13 year-old testified she was asleep on the living room couch, facing the cushions when she woke up being inappropriately touched. During more than an hour of questioning by prosecutor Hope Matchen, the girl said when she woke up she was too startled to say anything or even open her eyes. She brushed the hand away from her and then waited for the person to leave the room.
Soon after she looked outside and saw Williams getting into his van. Later during a video-taped statement to police, Williams says he did touch the girl. But only on the shoulder to wake her up and tell her he had to run some errands before the team's 4 a.m. departure. Over a defense objection, another teammate, a 16 year-old girl also testified about the man known as "Mr. Bud. " She testified Williams sent her a series of text messages in the weeks leading up to the touching incident, saying he loved her and asking if he could hold her hand on the ride up to the tournament.
The victim's mom testified Tuesday afternoon, about the frantic 3 a.m. phone call she received from her daughter just after the incident happened and how the girl has been more angry and emotional since the incident.
The prosecution rested this afternoon, and the defense said it will not present any witnesses. The jury will get the case Wednesday morning.
