STAMFORD — A Greenwich man and martial arts fighter had tears in his eyes as he was sentenced by a Stamford judge on Monday to eight years in prison for molesting his girlfriend’s 13-year-old daughter.
Danny Morales, 42, was led out of court in handcuffs to shouts of, “I love you,” and “Stay strong,” by about 10 family and friends following an emotional sentencing at the Stamford courthouse. Two months ago a jury found him guilty of two counts each of fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor for which he faced as many as 50 years in prison.
Before Judge John Blawie pronounced the sentence, family members and friends told him how shocked they were by the allegations against Morales, a martial arts instructor and 1996 Greenwich High School graduate.
Noted boxer David Telesco appeared in court and said he had three daughters and had been on numerous vacations with Morales and his family and never worried about him. Telesco said he never noticed any unwarranted attraction by Morales to younger women.

A martial arts fighter from Fairfield County will spend the better part of a decade behind bars for molesting his girlfriend’s teenage daughter.
Greenwich resident Danny Morales, 42, was sentenced to eight years in prison after a jury found him guilty of multiple counts of sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor after he sexually abused a 13-year-old girl.
It was alleged that Morales touched his victim repeatedly on her private parts and made her touch him while he was in an aroused state. Morales was never accused of having sex with the girl. The girl, who is now 16 years old, reportedly told her mother about the sexual assault, but her mother took Morales’ side.
When he is released from prison, Morales will have to register with the Connecticut State Sex Offender Registry, and has been ordered to stay away from his victim and her mother for 30 years, until Morales will be 72 years old. Morales also received 20 years probation.
