Walter Guilbeault, 60, pleaded guilty to the charge March 5. He was indicted Dec. 2, 2008, by a federal grand jury. According to the indictment and information presented in federal court, Guilbeault hosted a live meeting over the Internet in the course of his employment with a software company. At the conclusion of this Web meeting, he neglected to disconnect his computer from the host network, enabling attendees to the meeting to continue to view from their own computer desktops information originating from Guilbeault’s computer.
A meeting participant observed several images of young girls in lewd poses as well as a list of file names suggestive of pornography along with the words “Walter Guilbeault’s Desktop,” all displayed in the browser window where the Web meeting had been conducted.
Guilbeault was subsequently fired by his employer and he became the subject of a federal criminal investigation. During the course of the investigation, FBI agents found hundreds of still images and several videos of child pornography on Guilbeault’s work computer.

By Tara Morgan - bio | email
RICHMOND, VA (NBC12) - A Prince George County man is out of jail but, charged in a federal
child pornography case. Walter Guilbeault is charged with receipt of child pornography.
Neighbors are floored by what they consider disturbing allegations.
Walter Guilbeault tried to dodge our camera Thursday to no avail. With a coat pulled over his head, he darted from the federal courthouse in downtown Richmond and bolted toward his wife waiting in a vehicle.
Guilbeault was in court for a detention hearing in a child pornography case.
According to the prosecutor, when Guilbeault worked for a software company in 2007, sexually explicit images involving children were found on his work computer.
The prosecutor told the judge Guilbeault had just wrapped up a presentation for NASA, when someone spotted the lewd images on his laptop.
The indictment revealed some of the pictures involved children as young as five-years-old.
The prosecutor told the court Guilbeault's computers at home, as well as computers at his martial arts school, were seized.
Neighbors say Guilbeault's business was located in the Crossings Shopping Center in Hopewell.
People who work in the shopping center say police were there about three hours last week gathering evidence.
Guilbeault's wife told the prosecutor she closed the business last Friday.
Word of Guilbeault's arrest by the FBI last week left his neighbors in Prince George speechless and disturbed.
The prosector told the judge there was no credible evidence there was inappropriate contact between guilbeault and children at the martial arts school.
Guilbeault will be placed on electronic monitoring. He's not allowed to have contact with anyone under 18 or access to a computer.
He's expected back in court next month.
